Cotton Classers Association of Australia
(CCAA)
CCAA was formed in 1993 and represents most
classing facilities in Australia. Our main objective was to achieve
consistent classing between all classing facilities in Australia.
CCAA has implemented a BMP for all members for HVI and visual classing.
This includes procedures for HVI testing, classing facility
environmental management and visual classing practices. Members are
independently audited on an annual basis during the classing season.
CCAA also conducts round checks on a fortnightly basis during the
classing season on samples for both HVI and visual classing. Results are
independently analysed and sent to each classing facility.
For season 06 all CCAA members will be adopting the same module averaging system
when HVI classing grower cotton for length, length uniformity, strength and
micronaire. This will create more consistency between classing facilities.
With objective classing, the CCAA are currently performing ongoing trials on all
members HVI’s to ensure consistency of results for colour and leaf.
CCAA are a member of ACIC and have two members on the CEAC committee.
The Objectives of the Cotton Classers Association of Australia are:
- Ongoing check test programs to ensure consistency between classing facilities
for instrument testing and visual classification.
- Independent check test analysis of results.
- All classing facilities to participate in Cotton Classers Association of
Australia BMP program.
- All Cotton Classers Association of Australia members participating in ongoing
Cotton Classers Association of
- Australia trials for instrument colour and leaf.
- Adopting a single instrument module averaging system for length, strength,
uniformity and micronaire to be used by all classing facilities.
- Researching an instrument colour grade system for Australian cotton.
